Welcome to Offmore Primary School

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Funding is additional to our general school budget. This funding has  a specific focus of supporting school's  ability to raise standards and attainment of a specific group of pupils. The government agenda is to give schools the ability to spend this money in the best way for their individual needs and to help every child achieve.

Pupil premium money is provided for children who have been identified as Free School Meals within the last 6 years.  There are a range of reasons why a child is entitled to this.  If you have any questions or think you may be eligible then please come into school to discuss this.

At Offmore we have a series of key principles regarding the use of Pupil Premium money to support our disadvantaged pupils:

  • Eligibility for the pupil premium must never be confused with low ability.
  • All stakeholders focus upon supporting disadvantaged pupils to achieve the highest levels.
  • Thorough analysis of underachievement, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics, and why.
  • The school utilises evidence from its own, and others' experience in order to allocate funding to activities that are most likely to have an impact on improving pupils' achievement.
  • The school uses achievement data regularly and robustly, to check whether interventions or techniques are working and makes adjustments accordingly. The school does not simply use data retrospectively to see if something has worked.
  • The school ensures that all designated leaders, have a clear overview of how funding is allocated. They review the difference it is making to the outcomes of pupils on a half-termly basis and with respect to their areas of responsibility.
  • The school ensures that class and subject teachers know which pupils are eligible for the pupil premium so that they can take responsibility for accelerating progress.
  • The school successfully uses pupil premium funding to tackle a range of issues, e.g. attendance, behaviour, confidence, resilience, reading, factors outside of school, professional training for staff on helping disadvantaged pupils, effective teaching and learning, literacy support, targeted support, further enrichment and so on.

Offmore utilises the Pupil Premium money in a range of ways and this changes in accordance to the individual needs of families.

  • The purchase of specific resources to support learning need
  • To provide a percentage of time from key staff to enhance and secure effective learning
  • 1 to 1 and small group intervention
  • Specific skills to support assessment and inform learning direction
  • To support additional learning opportunities such as trips and residential experiences
  • To support core needs, such as uniform
  • to support mental health and wellbeing needs through our extended pastoral team approach.

The Governing Body rigorously monitors the progress of  pupils eligible for pupil premium funding and the impact of the school's  spending.
