Starting School at Offmore Primary
"A successful change is about them forgetting that the change happened."
Welcome to our Reception Transition page. This page contains information, videos, stories and activities to support you and your child with the transitions ahead; whether your child is coming from our Nursery class or joining our school for the very first time. If you are new to Offmore then we cannot wait to welcome you in September. If you are a returning family, then we cannot wait to welcome you back!
Due to the current situation, we know that transition is going to look a little different this year but we hope that this page will be a helpful source of support over the coming weeks.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact the school office or drop us an email on; office@offmore.worcs.sch.uk
Welcome to the journey! We are looking forward to taking it together and making your child's transition into Reception as smooth as possible.
Please take a look at our schools virtual tour.

Writing
At Offmore we teach pre-cursive letter formation in order to support the children as they learn to join their letters further up in the school. Below is a pdf file of the formation groups we use. Every letter starts on the line and children will 'woosh in' and 'woosh out.'

Phonics
We teach Phonics using 'Letters and Sounds'. Children will use the phrase "my name is... my sound is..." to learn the difference between the alphabet name of a letter and the sound it makes. We have attached a video to support you in how to say the sound each letter makes.
Maths
Below is a pdf of the number formation rhymes that we will be using in Reception
