Reading Ambassadors

At Offmore, reading is at the heart of our school. It shapes our learning, fuels our imagination and connects us as a community of curious, confident readers.
We are incredibly proud of our Reading Ambassadors, a team of passionate book‑lovers from Reception to Year 6 who work together to spread the joy of reading across the school.

As Reading Ambassadors we have been chosen because we show enthusiasm for books and kindness towards others. We meet regularly to:

  • Recommend books to classmates
  • Help keep class reading areas inviting and well‑organised
  • Promote reading initiatives across the school
  • Support younger pupils with reading
  • Celebrate new books, authors and genres

Wednesday Lunchtime: Library Magic

Each Wednesday lunchtime, our beautiful forest‑themed library opens for a different year group.
Children enjoy:

  • browsing books with friends
  • cosy corners for quiet reading
  • story time with Reading Ambassadors
  • discovering new authors and genres

This relaxed, inviting environment helps us see reading as something to treasure.

How We Grow Readers

Reading Ambassadors are a key part of Offmore’s wider reading strategy.
Every term:

  •  Leaders meet with ambassadors to gather pupil voice
  • We track participation in Reading Dog, journals and library sessions
  • Book stock is refreshed in line with children’s interests
  • Class reading corners are supported by ambassadors and staff
  • We make sure every child sees reading as joyful and accessible

This ensures we are continually improving and building a reading culture that reflects and excites Offmore children.
